Destination #1 in Texas

Among all the historical places in the USA, this is undoubtedly one of the most important. This small village was founded over three hundred years ago, and has now become the main tourist destination in Texas. More than 26 million people visit San Antonio every year, and it is easy to see that when you go for a walk at the main city spots which are always crowded.

You cannot miss FORT ALAMO with its historical relevance and River Walk for its beauty. The Fort is in downtown San Antonio, but only the central part is left now. You can visit the museum inside the fort; there are several items from the time of the famous Battle of the Alamo, when the Texian army lost the fight for independence of the Spanish domain in 1836.

River Walk is pretty easy to find, it is 20 km long. It is a fine work of engineering built during the Great Depression in 1929 to stimulate local economy. San Antonio River, which crosses the city, was channeled and received lots of decks, parks, restaurants and a charming walkway that allows you to have a nice tour along the river. It is for sure a unique project, never seen in any other place, and certainly an example of urbanism.

The most famous part is in the center, with dozens of bars and restaurants, and the coolest one is where they built the MUSEUM REACH – works of art in the open. One of them is a mesmerizing high-scaled school of fish hanging from an overpass. The integration between the hall of Hyatt Hotel and the canal is great project as well.

The busiest street is South Alamo Street. The tour starts at Rosario’s, a Mexican restaurant. Walking down the street, you can find handcraft fairs, several restaurants, art galleries and some renewed and beautiful historical buildings. At the end of the street, there is BLUE STAR with lots of restaurants and art galleries, really crowded at night.
