I have already seen lots of kangaroos while visiting wild life parks in Australia. But no one offer the interactive experience as Cavershawn Wild Life Park, near Perth. Those typical animals seems puppis that love our caress. This mom was carrying a big and curious whelp.

I spent 30 days visiting 19 places in 4 Australian states. I bought my ticket to Sydney and had 5 months to plan it all. First I had to decide what I would like to see, there are so many options that I had a hard time narrowing it down. My brother lives in Perth (5.000 km away from Sydney), so I decided that would be my last stop. Then I researched what I would visit on the way.

The biggest tourist destination in Gold Coast is completely different from what I expected. This was the last stop I planned for my backpacking in Australia, and time ended up being short for previous research. Known for its beautiful beaches and surf, I believed it would be perfect to relax, after busy days in Sydney.

Rottnest Island is a paradise in the middle of Western Australia, you cannot miss it when in Perth. And the best way to know it is to ride your bike along the 24 km of asphalted roads, besides the sandy inner roads to get to the hidden beaches. For the not so sporty ones, there a bus line all day, after all, cars are not allowed in the island.

The third largest city in Australia is one of the cities I most liked. It is beautiful, well-kept, with historical buildings and modern architecture. It has large green areas, full of parks, gardens and even an artificial beach. The capital of Queensland is between the mountains and the sea, just a few hours from Gold Coast by train. I was at the beach and went to Brisbane to spend the day, a great choice.

For those who visit Sydney, a whole Day dedicated to the TARONGA ZOO is a must. It is a huge theme park, with a privileged view to the Opera House and Harbour Bridge. Besides being close to native Australian animals, you can walk in the areas for foreign animals. It is a pleasant, interesting and fun place. Some animals, like the chimpanzee babies, make us laugh or get emotional.

A journey through Central Australia means exploring natural and unique attractions and knowing the routes of aborigine culture; understanding its tales and paintings, or at least what we are allowed to know. They let you see and feel their land, but little can be documented or explained. The oldest people on Earth does not have the written word, and passes on their knowledge for those with enough responsibility.

This weird lizard is very difficult to find. Called Thorny Devil because it’s appearance, it only hurts those who trample it. Its camouflage skin has the colors of the outback’s floor and vegetation. I had luck when I found it in the middle of nowhere while I was picking wood for the fire camp. There was an Australian who caught in her hands to show us how inoffensive it was.
