A sunny Sunday afternoon is an invitation to go for a walk at Coronel Pedro Osório Square, in the centre of Pelotas. The main attraction is Fonte das Nereidas (water fountain), bought by the Hydraulic Company at an auction in Paris and brought to provide water to the population at the time. Installed by the end of the 19th century and restored in June 2003, it has four Nereids (sea goddesses from Greek mythology on horses). Take your chimarrão and dog, meet friends and have fun. Besides the fountain, it is worthwhile paying attention to the centennial trees and buildings around the square, historical houses that are part of the city culture.
It is now time to talk about taste. I share with you my latest gastronomic findings in Buenos Aires.
Living here in the metropolitan area of Miami and Fort Lauderdale, I am already used to pass through cargo vessels, gigantic cruiseships, and an infinity of boats, ships, yachts, and so many different embarkments that nothing attracts much my attention. It was not the case this time boating with friends at Port Everglades area last Saturday. We faced the fantastic yatch M/Y “A”.
Something curious about Zagreb is that there only few places where you can have something to eat and drink in the same place, like in Brazilian bakeries. Here you always find small bakeries – PEKARNICA (pecárnitza) – where you can buy pastries, sandwiches or something sweet. Next door there will certainly be a café where you can sit and order coffee.
I spent a few days in Buenos Aires, and as I have been there before, this time I could sharpen my smell and taste in aromatic and gastronomic places. Argentina is still one of the best places in the world to eat meat, and going to places filled with aromas that stir one’s senses was amazing.
Seven years ago I finished the preparations for the journey that would inspire the creation of this website. The main goal was visit Macchu Picchu, the Inca’s city that instigates even the less curious person. How did they carry all those rocks and do such perfects constructions on that altitude? There are answers for all faiths, although what really matters is to be there and fell the energy.
One of the most ravishing tours we took in Bali was the Sacred Monkey Forest in Ubud (beautiful area in the heart of the island). The ride itself announced that something amazing was about to come.
There are many options to spend New Year’s Eve: New York, Paris, Rio de Janeiro… all very interesting, but I will tell you a little about the New Year’s Eve I spent in Aconcagua.
I spent 30 days visiting 19 places in 4 Australian states. I bought my ticket to Sydney and had 5 months to plan it all. First I had to decide what I would like to see, there are so many options that I had a hard time narrowing it down. My brother lives in Perth (5.000 km away from Sydney), so I decided that would be my last stop. Then I researched what I would visit on the way.
Surrounded by maze of shops, smells, ateliers and thousand of people at Marrakesh’s Souks (Central Market), I came across this delicious candy stand. I tried to take closer pictures showing candies details but the owner did not allowed me except if it was from the entire stand. Nevertheless this image brings me good memories from the taste of losing myself in popular markets.
