Trekking in Vale do Pati may seem lengthy, but all the effort is rewarded with the view and people we find on the way. The hospitality, besides the waterfalls and natural pools connected by trails opened by miners, is part of the rewards.
Home of a unique fauna, breathtaking sceneries and full of waterfalls with crystal clear waters describe this area located over a huge quartz crystal plate, crossed by the 14th parallel – just like the legendary city of Machu Picchu. All these characteristics make Chapada dos Veadeiros a mystical place, full of energy and surrounded by mysteries.
Rio do Boi Trail is one of my favorites – I have done it three times and plan on doing it again. It is a hard 12-kilometer trekking inside Itaimbezinho canyon, rewarded with a swim in pools and waterfalls in the middle of the cliffs.
When we talk about Iguassu Falls, it is not possible to know it all in one weekend: one half is in Brazil and the other half is in Argentina, each one run by different companies and with different attractions. Both deserve a visit for being completely different. One day on each side is enough to know the basic, four days is perfect for a complete experience in the two countries.
One of the tours I most enjoyed on the Brazilian side of the Falls was “Poço Preto Trail”, an ecologist-guided safari with river bathing included. Spirit of adventure is a basic requirement, and you should not be afraid of water so you can make the most of it.
A jeep ride through the rainforest, in the National Park of Serra da Bocaina, is a great option if you do not have your own car in Paraty. You can spend a whole day in waterfalls, stills and forests. After being on a high from tasting cachaças and liqueurs, a swim in cold waters and another still and more waterfalls. Pure adrenalin!
Climbing Monte Roraima is a dream for many adventurers: a 6-day trekking, walking more than 90 km to get to know this prehistoric place. It stands 2.800m over the sea level and is one of the most spectacular adventures in South America.
The summit of Mount Roraima hides fascinating rock formations that look like someone spying on us all the time. They awake our imagination in the attempt to identify something familiar like people’s faces, objects and animals – like the game of seeing pictures in the clouds.
Jericoacoara, one of the most peaceful beaches I have ever been to, was considered one of the most beautiful beaches in the world by The Washington Post (USA). Besides the lagoons with clear water, the quiet sea and huge dunes, there are many tour options that make it a great place to know.
The paradise with clear blue water and white sand on the pictures is Los Roques, Venezuela.
