An underwater experience

Sydney Aquarium was the most interesting I have ever been to. A rare opportunity to see sharks, lethal jellyfish and shy fish up close, walking in their habitat without being noticed.

Sharks all around, a sinister environment

Located on Darling Harbour, the largest entertainment complex in the city, Sydney Aquarium showcases over 12 thousand animals from 650 species, such as platypuses, penguins, stingrays, seahorses, dudongs, jellyfish, sharks and many colorful fish of the Great Barrier Reef.

In many rooms I sat across the window and let my mind wander with the shapes, colors and movements. It was like being in a cinema but knowing it was not a movie projection.

You can walk in underwater viewing tunnels at the bottom of huge pools and go through galleries with explanations.

There is a space where you can touch and feel the ocean floor. It has a big white shark, which is used in movies, that swims around the scares the children.

The Great Barrier Reef faithfully represented

The life-sized statues and panels, made of lego bricks, are special attractions. They are part of the decoration, depicting the marine world and its fantasies.

Take Note

Take at least 3 hours to spend there. It is open daily from 9 am to 8 pm. Buy the Sydney Aquarium combo ticket and save money. For further information check the website.

Eating: in the food court there is a fast food restaurant with seafood, where I ate fish and chips with calamari and prawns – which, by the way, were delicious. I used the coupon I got from the Sydney Guide at the airport.
