One of the most charming places I have ever been to. From all the places I know, this was my favorite travel. Landscapes worth of a movie set, everything I saw in July 2008 is carved so strongly in my memory that every now and then I dream that I am back to this magical little piece of the world.

One of the most inhospitable places I have ever been to, Cabo Polonio sits on the tip of a moon-sliver shaped peninsula that extends into the Atlantic Ocean. The only access is by walking through the dunes or 4×4 vehicles. There is an important light house and a natural reserve of sea lions, the biggest in the world.

Sarasota is a beautiful tourist destination with great beaches and leisure options. However, as in every American city, you do nothing without a car and I was tired of driving and parking. So, I decided to take a bus or taxi – which did not work out well. In the US if you do not know the schedule of the buses, it means you will spend the whole day in desert bus terminals in the middle of nowhere, waiting for something to happen.

There is not much infrastructure in Fernando de Noronha, everything is kind of rustic, but who cares about comfort when you are in a paradise-like beach? The island is rather small, and the city is crossed by a 7 km-road. Vegetation pretty dry most of the time, due to high temperatures and little rain.

Near to Barcelona there is a place with Roman Empire ruins. The picture shows an ancient amphitheater with the blue ocean behind. Today it is a museum for roman sculptures, which gives the impression of come back in time or like be in a movie scenery.

In the 90’s I discovered Pinheira and I became a fan. It’s a place for meet friends and enjoy hours resting on the sand. Among mountains and green sea, who sits on the beach has the view of Florianópolis island, besides de warm water, tranquility and nature. There are two beaches: Baixo and Cima. The photo shows Baixo beach in the early morning hours when fishermen come back from work bringing thousand of gulls in search of food. At the end of the Cima beach is the beginning of a beautiful 2 hours trail to Guarda do Embaú beach.

I was already expecting paradise like beaches in Ilha Grande, and it all came true when I saw that emerald green sea, exquisite vegetation and pleasant temperature. The best is to go trekking heading for fantastic hidden beaches, or full of tourists who came by boat. This is not a big problem, for whoever comes by boat does not stay long and it will be a desert beach again.
